About the role
The Principal Engineer for Power & Electrical leads technical advisory on high-density power architecture for AI data center engagements — UPS sizing, switchgear, distribution, generator strategy, and energy optimization at 30kW+ rack densities.
What you will do
- Lead technical advisory on data center power architecture for client projects
- Design and review high-density electrical distribution: HV/MV/LV, UPS, switchgear, PDUs
- Size backup power systems (generators, UPS) for AI GPU cluster environments
- Develop power redundancy and resiliency models (N+1, 2N, 2N+1)
- Review utility interconnection requirements and power purchase agreement structures
- Support energy optimization and PUE improvement programs for existing facilities
- Evaluate and recommend power hardware: Schneider, Vertiv, Eaton, and alternatives
- Author technical specifications and review vendor submittals for power systems
What we need
- 10+ years as an electrical engineer or power systems specialist in data center or critical infrastructure
- Deep expertise in electrical distribution architecture for high-density compute environments
- Familiarity with utility-scale interconnection, MV/HV design, and grid resilience
- Experience with major UPS and switchgear platforms (Schneider, Vertiv, ABB, Eaton)
- PE license (Electrical) strongly preferred
Nice to have
- Experience with renewable energy integration and energy storage for data centers
- LEED or ENERGY STAR data center certification experience
